A guide to basic Connect 4 tactics

This page covers the basic tactics a beginning player needs to become a solid intermediate.

In the future I will add advanced tactics, then get into basic strategy, counter-strategies, and finally openings.

To make sense of the diagrams, I call the columns from left to right: A, B, C, D, E, F, G (D is in the middle) and the rows from bottom to top: 1,2,3,4,5,6. ... so, D4 means the bottom square in the middle column, etc... I've labeled each square in light grey to help make it clear.
